Topeka man convicted of murder, attempted murder

Antwan T. Peppers, 34, of Topeka is charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
A Topeka man was found guilty today of killing a man and attempting to kill a teenager outside a downtown bar.
A jury convicted Antwan Peppers of first-degree murder in the death of Jermaine Cunningham, 20, and attempted first-degree murder in the shooting of Terrell Hayes-Osby, who was 16 at the time.
Peppers shot both men on July 15, 2006, outside Terry’s Bar and Grill, 522 SW 6th St. Shawnee County District Attorney Robert Hecht and police investigators concluded the murder was premeditated.
Cunningham, Topeka, was found shot to death in a car. He’d been shot several times, according to Hecht's office.
Hayes-Osby suffered life-threatening injuries.
Peppers was arrested in Chicago.
