A 22-year-old man, who was found hiding in the trunk of a family’s car, pleaded guilty to burglary and theft charges today, the district attorney reports.
Last August, Jason Oldham broke into the garage of a home at 1901 SW 29th Terrace while the residents were home, said Robert Hecht, district attorney. Oldham was found in the trunk of a car in the garage with stolen property.
The same night, Oldham had taken the screen off a window at a neighbor’s house and attempted to break in, Hecht said in a news release.
Oldham pleaded guilty to one count each of aggravated burglary, attempted theft, attempted aggravated burglary, and criminal damage to property less than $1,000.
Hecht said his office will be asking for the maximum prison sentence of 68 months.
District Court Judge Jan Leuenberger revoked Oldham’s bond today, Hecht said, and Oldham will remain in custody pending sentencing May 7.
Carol Cott, his victim, said she’s ecstatic by Leuenberger's and Hecht's response.
