Oprah's Big Give recipient looks forward to hosting Easter holidays

“It has a lot of special holiday memories for all the holidays,” said Meghan Olsen, Oprah’s Big Give recipient.
There are no Easter eggs hidden in the backyard of the southeast Topeka home where Olsen grew up.
But she remembers the time when these piles of tree branches weren't here, and brightly colored Easter eggs were.
“We had a rainy Easter and they had hidden all of the candy and eggs and what not around the house and the dogs ate all of it,” she said.

Using the backyard to host Easter egg hunts is one of many dreams Meghan has in store for her 6-year-old son Cameron.
But right now, her house is just not a home.
“Just a construction zone all the time basically,” she said.
With the help of Oprah's Big Give, 49 ABC and the community, Meghan and five other needy families will get the chance to fulfill their dreams.
This is how.
It started with a challenge from Oprah. She donated $10,000 to 49 News, and we have to see how far we can make that money go.
But with help from volunteers, we raised an additional $2,145.
Volunteers and the Big Give team members will meet this week to map out the plan action to get work underway.
“It means more than just money,” she said. “By the time it filters down to where it's going, it makes a world of difference and I’m just so incredibly thankful.
