Manhattan Students rallied on campus to get signatures and increase awareness about poverty.
Organizations gathered in the quad to collect donations of canned food and clothing.
These students join 2.4 million people in the poverty-fighting campaign.
Students say the goal of the program is to contribute directly to those in need.
“It looks to stop corruption of the funding that goes over to Africa, to make sure that funding actually gets to the people that it needs to, instead of continually throwing money down an endless pit,” says K-State student George Weston.
After finishing in the top-10, K-State received a $1,000-grant to increase awareness about global poverty.
Last month, we told you Manhattan was the first city in Kansas to sign a proclamation with the ONE organization. Read that report here.
