Topeka Visioning Project: What the NIA's want
4:24 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2008
Many people were geared up for the improvement project here in the Capital City.
"I think it will be a good idea if they follow through and get the neighborhoods and make the neighborhoods and city as a whole in on their ideas," said Ann Marshall.
Chesney Park NIA President Ann Marshall says she has seen many plans over the last fifteen years, and she hopes this one is different.
"I think they are starting in the right direction," said Ann Marshall.
She wants a joint effort.
"At least include people from the different representatives of each area of Topeka," said Ann Marshall

Wesley Marshall, Vice President of Central Highland Park NIA, feels the same way.
"I was excited about the meeting," said Wesley Marshall.
Marshall had some specific ideas of what his neighborhood needed.
"We would like to see the Fox Theater opened up again," said Wesley.
He wants more educational programs.
"On the east side of town there is nothing to do for our youth," said Wesley.
Executive Director of the Visioning Project William Beteta says people in the community will decide.
"It's not leaders in government, it's not leaders in industry saying this is what we want to do. It's people saying this is what we want," said Beteta.
He says it needs to be a diverse group.
"We are taking every effort to identify people by race, geography, career," said Beteta.
