Getting fitted for a tailor-made wheelchair

A wheelchair expert fitted Ray Santin for a new wheelchair today.
Ray is one of five families being helped by 49 News, Let's Help, and our Community Keeps Giving project.
Ray lives in Scranton, where the community raised $1,900 to help buy a new wheelchair.
But Ray's family gets to keep that money, after a company donated a new chair.
"Finding out that I was getting a new chair was nothing that I expected," Ray said. "It gets frustrating, a lot, so this new chair's going to be well received and needed."
"We're going to try to set him up as best as possible to make him as independent as possible," wheelchair specialist Paul Wilkie said.
Wilkie recommends wheelchairs be replaced every five years.
Ray has had his chair for 12 years.
His new chair should be ready in 4 to 6 weeks.
