Hayden hosts Washburn Rural in softball

Here's a little high school softball action for this Friday.

Regional seedings are set for tomorrow, so now really is the time as Hayden plays host to Washburn Rural.

In the top of the second, Justin Riner faces pitcher Paige Ladenburger with the bases loaded. Who said pitchers can't hit? She drives one to left center as Maggie Holmberg and Taylor Lingard both come around to score.

Junior Blues are up 2-0.

IIn the same inning, two outs and Taylor Zordel pops one up into what looks like foul territory. Cats miss the catch and the ump calls it a fair ball. Tayler Warkentine scores, pitting Rural up three.

Still in the second, the hit parade continues as Shelby Anderson drops one in the gap.

The Junior Blues would go on to score seven more after that four-run second and win iit, thanks to the mercy rule, 11-1.
