It was just three years ago that the Silver Lake baseball team captured a 3-A state championship.
The Eagles starting their run to a state title in '08 today against Council Grove.
The three-seed Lake, looking to make it to the quarterfinals for a rematch with two-seed and rival Rossville.
Bottom fourth, Lake up 3-0, one out, bases loaded and Tyler Roberts takes the pitch and then sends it out of the park, a grand salami for the Eagles and a 7-0 lead.
Lake would put up two more runs in the fifth. In the bottom of the sixth now, runners on the corners and Braves pitcher Logan Kohler ties to catch Dustin Gauntt leading off. He instead overthrows the base and Gauntt steals home.
And that's enough to end the game. Silver Lake run-rules Council Grove, 10-0.
The Eagles face Rossville on Wednesday.
