Double dose of disappointment for ESU baseball team
11:57 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2008
The Emporia State baseball team ended their run for a national title and their season also came to a close Saturday.
The Hornets year was highlighted by a 35-game winning streak -- a MIAA regular season title -- and a number four ranking in the nation.
But the season came to an end when ESU suffered two disappointing loses on their home diamond in the NCAA Regional tournament.
They lost their first game of the afternoon to MIAA foe Central Missouri 5-2; then in a elimination game, the Hornets fell to Nebraska-Omaha 17-14.
ESU ends its season at 50-10.
