Child dies in rollover accident

An 11-year-old Topeka girl is dead after the car her mother was driving crashed into a house.
Police and medical crews were called to the accident at 1525 Northwest Lyman shortly before 6:30 Sunday.

Witnesses told police the car lost control at the railroad tracks, rolled several times, then crashed into a house int he 1500 block of Northwest Lyman.
The child, Cheyenne Morrissey, 11, of Topeka, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, Michelle Dodds, 31, of Topeka, suffered only minor injuries.
No one inside the home was hurt. It sustained only minor damages.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident; neighbors tell 49 News speeding has always been a problem in the area.
The Topeka Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate and is looking at whether alcohol and speed may have been factors. Anyone who may have seen the accident or who has information is asked to contact Accident Reconstruction at 368-9227 or 368-9584.
