"National Treasure: Book of Secrets" is the second installment by director John Turtletab.
In this action-adventure film, treasure hunter Ben Gates (Nicholas Cage) and the rest of the original cast are back. Gates and his crew are searching to find a book that could unlock secrets to the countries history. He learns the pages will uncover details to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Gates and his father (John Voight) uncover the book, but must kidnap the president along the way.
Both National Treasure films were created by Disney and were big box office money-makers. "Book of Secrets" grossed almost $45 million in its opening week.
The film was extremely slow moving and several scenes ran way too long. Director John Turtletab could’ve edited out around 20 to 30 minutes of film and made the movie much more enjoyable. After watching "Book of Secrets," I left asking “Did we really need another one?” The idea was creative but the plot was too unbelievable.
Now that the DVD is out, I expect it should do well, riding on the popularity of the first National Treasure movie.
