Future "stewards of the land" meet in Manhattan

Nearly 1,000 high school and college students are at K-State learning about the future of farming.
Today's FFA events kick off a week of work, but these students do more than just sit in the classroom.
They play computer games and compete in speech competitions.
Students say it's inspiring them to "join the field."
"I don't think there is any better industry to lie our foundation on because agriculture is about belief, about having tradition and truly taking pride in what we do as stewards of the land every single day," Kansas FFA president Bethany Bohnenblust said.
The FFA has been around for 80 years.
Former members include President Jimmy Carter, Senator Sam Brownback and musician Tim McGraw.
