photo

— If you're a smoker looking to quit, what better day than The Great American Smokeout.

Thursday is the 33rd annual American Cancer Society event.

To help you quit, the Shawnee County Health Agency is offering these free "Quit Kits".

The kits contain information about the dangers of smoking, tips for quitting, smoking substitutes like gum and suckers, and a coupon for a free Jersey Mike's sub. Here's where to get your kit: the main Health Agency on 8th Street, or at two other clinic locations; Hillcrest at 1800 SE 21st and the M&I Clinic at 1534 SW Clay, between the hours of 8 and noon and 1 to 5 p.m.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has a 24 hour Kansas Tobacco Quitline. Call toll-free, 1-866-KAN-STOP.

More information about the Kansas Tobacco Use Prevention Program can be found at www.kdheks.gov.
