The League of Woman Voters hosted a debate between the two woman that are running to be the 2nd District Representative.

Democrat Nancy Boyda and Republican Lynn Jenkins verbally duked it out tonight.

The top issue of the debate was obviously the economy and Friday's possible House vote on the amended bailout bill.

Residents of Northeast Kansas got to call in their questions and many wanted to know what the candidates were going to do about the crisis.

"Well, I too would have opposed the version that was presented to the House earlier this week. I think it was hastily put together and was irresponsible. It left the taxpayers, responsible taxpayers, holding the bag," candidate Jenkins said.

"Hopefully there will be about 18 of us, we're hoping, that can come together and negotiate for a best deal," incumbant Boyda said. "What does it have in it? It has an ownership position. It talks about accounting standards. This market-to-market accounting standards is really a lot of the problem. It addresses the FDIC issue, it says we need to bring up the cap. It looks at some of the real reform that we need to have in so many of these papers."
