Topeka Festival Singers look forward to milestone season
9:23 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2008
This year the always-joyous Topeka Festival Singers have another reason to smile; the group has reached a 25-year milestone.
To open the silver anniversary, the Topeka Festival Singers bring the community "The Best of All Possible Worlds," a piece by Leonard Bernstein, during an event of the same name. They will use Bernstein's work to springboard into more international music.
Music Director Kevin Kellim says the night of global music will be "something different, something I think our audience members will enjoy."
Kellim, who is in his 22nd season with the group, says the Topeka Festival Singers' performances have been well received, and he hopes the audience continues to support the group.
"It's been a great ride," he said.
The singers rehearse once a week and will perform four public concerts this season: "The Best of All Possible Worlds," Oct. 6; "The Sounds of the Season," Dec. 15; "Elijah," March 2; and "Encore," March 18.
