With the economy on a roller coaster many folks are looking for more frugal options when it comes to shopping.
And 49 News found out many don't have to look any further than around the neighborhood to a local garage sale.
Keeping up with the Jones might just mean touring the wares in their garage. Emma Galbraith has been holding garage sales for years and is seeing a lot more people stopping by recently.
"Well, they can see an assortment of what we have and what doesn't appeal to everyone maybe it will appeal to someone," she said.
Larry Blanco says he's seen an increase of visitors to his biannual sale too, and that they're looking for different things this time.
"We sold clothes yesterday to a lady that was going to a wedding reception and her husband told her she had to buy her outfit at a garage sale because stuff was too expensive at the stores."
And client demographics are changing too according to Emma Galbraith.
"Well more families are coming," she said.
Larry Blanco agrees.
"There's been a lot of daughters and mothers and a lot of ladies who are expecting with their kids and husbands looking for baby things," Blanco said.
Another hot item, empty baskets, so folks can make inexpensive gift baskets for Christmas.
