A community comes together to clean up Topeka schools
Five Topeka schools got a face-lift today and many area residents found out what sharing really means.
Digging holes for plants, weeding and cleaning up a playground is how hundreds of volunteers spent their morning.
It was all apart of ShareFest. It's a way for area churches and Topekans to give back to the community.
Kids worked along side their parents learning about community service.
According to David Isaacks, a volunteer, this year has been great: "A lot more volunteers, a lot more people getting involved, and I think we've actually done a few more school this year too."
All of the schools cleaned up today were apart of USD 501.
The Topeka project is modeled after the original ShareFest that started in Little Rock, Ark.
