Housing problems still not fixed 6 months later

Junction City Jamie Thaps showed 49 News the mistakes the contractor made while building her home during a tour in February. At that time, John Campbell from Genesis Development came in from Kansas City to assure this family the problems would be taken care of. But we found out today, that many of the problem have not been fixed.
"Were stuck with having to consistently try to get things fixed," Thap said.
Thap and her husband have been trying to get things fixed on their home for a year now.
She has mounds of paper work her and her husband look through constantly.
He wants everything fixed before he deploys to Iraq this month. Jamie doesn't want her husband to worry about the house while he is fighting overseas.
Jamie says she always has to keep a fan because she doesn't ever know when her AC's going to go out. Today, her thermostat is turned on and at 73 degrees, but it was 82 degrees in there.
She says the contractors came out and fixed some things, but then one day they just stopped coming.
"April 30th was the last time we saw anybody in our home to fix anything," Thap said.
And that's not the end of Jamie's worries: "No one called, no one came and got the list, no one came to work, and as of Saturday the 30th the warranty expired," Thap said.
She says August 21st was the last time she spoke with anyone.
Today 49 New got answers from Campbell, the construction manager. The Thaps, curious about where Genesis was planning on coming, turned to 49 News for help when their home warranty expired Saturday. Today, with 49 News' help, the family got their answer: Campbell will continue to honor the warranty until everything is fixed.
So what's taking so long to get things fixed?
"We're just really looking for someone that you can rely on and trust that won't walk out on the job," he said.
Thap says she hopes things are different this time, but just in case she has documented every phone call and e-mail from anyone who was involved.
It's good a rule of thumb for anyone trying to solve a problem

I really understand what these people are going through. I have been a single mother for 12 years and finally on January 9th I was able to purchase a home. I bought a brand new home in Junction City. On Memorial Day and again on June 5th my home flooded due to the drainage behind my property not being maintained and also due to some things that were not done properly on my home. Since the water came in and also under my home the footings on the back of my house sunk. You can visually see the separation between the floor and the base boards now. I cannot shut my safe room door or bedroom door. I have large cracks in my walls. The siding has begun to crack. The bathtub has started cracking. The garage floor has lifted and has very large cracks in it. My back patio has pulled away from my house and cracked in two pieces now. My home owner's insurance does not cover surface water damage. I don't feel that I should have to pay for it since this would not have happened if things were done properly on my home and the drain would have been maintained properly. I have contacted my builder on several occasions and he has accepted partial responsibility and has also pointed fingers at Kaw Valley Engineering and the city. He has made promise after promise about getting my house fixed and even went as far as to have he and I meet with his attorney to get everyone to come together to fix my home but as of yesterday, his attorney has not heard from him in awhile. Yesterday I made contact with an attorney looking for some remedies that way since no one wants to seem to cooperate. This has just been the peak of the problems I have had with this house. When I first moved in, I kept complaining it was cold and could not get a response from anyone as to why the heater would not stop running and I could not keep the house warm. The water froze twice. Two months later only to find out there was not a crumb of insulation in my attic. The first night in the home the thermostat went out. The second night, the dishwasher was not put together properly and burnt a hole in the bottom of the dishwasher and water came flooding out onto the floor. I moved in on a temporary certificate of occupancy and it took nearly 3 months to get a permanent one because things were not done properly. I could go on forever with all the issues I have had with this house but I can truly sum it up in once sentence: I didn't get the American Dream, I bought the American Nightmare! These builders came into Junction City (mine is out of Wichita) thinking they were going to hit a gold mine due to the influx at Fort Riley, they built quickly and poorly and then when the problems come, they bail out. My builder has yet to do one thing to fix anything due to the flooding but yet he continues to build houses all the way down the street. It is so frustrating. I poured every penny I had into this house, there is no money left to fix it.
