A new report says Kansas unemployment is on the way up.
In 2007, unemployment stood at 4.1 percent.
The State Department of Labor expects it to go up to 4.4 percent this year and even higher to 4.6 percent next year.
If you're looking for a new job, you may want to choose one in the health or computer industry.
That report says these are the five fastest growing jobs in Kansas:
- Medical assistants
- Computer analysts
- Home health aides
- Community and social service specialists
- Dental assistants
Those professions are expected to grow by more than 40 percent from 2004 to 2014.
In some fields there are more jobs than there are qualified applicants, the report says.
Those positions are in fields such as health care, education and computing, according to the Kansas Department of Labor report.
The report also notes that there will be a 30 percent increase in employment in the gambling and recreation industries because of a new law allowing casinos in the state.
