A group of Topekans has started a petition saying the city shouldn't spend taxpayer money to appeal a lawsuit over a parking lot.
The Friends of Bethany Place won a lawsuit, meaning they were able to stop plans for a parking lot.

If you are opposed to the idea of using city funds on a legal appeal over the Bethany Place parking lot, you may want to check out this site where you can sign a petition.
The City and the Episcopalian Diocese are appealing the decision.
Now, members of the Old Town Neighborhood Improvement Association have started an online petition speaking out against the use of city dollars to fund an appeal.
"The use of our taxpayer dollars. Is this the most beneficial use of them when right now we're under constraints, budget constraints and making decisions and having to cut funding?" said Kathryn Hosfelt with Old Town NIA.
A spokeswoman for the Diocese says the next step is the Court of Appeals. That could take up to a year.
