Rain keeps roofers under the gun

Work crews are under the gun as they nail down these shingles before the rain shuts down their work.
"It looks line rain, so we're hurrying. We're trying to beat the rain," says Ted Dalton with Dalton Roofing.
Dalton says their jobs are backed up for weeks, so victims of hail damage will have to wait in line.
Dalton says, "We've gotten a few calls from the Oakland area and Billard Airport...kind of the east side of town."
So, they work when they can.
Avoid repair scams
Here are some tips from the Better Business Bureau to avoid scams on repair work.
- Verify the work address of the contractor.
- If possible, request two or three estimates of the cost of repairs.
- Don't pay for it all up front.
- A down payment of 30 percent of the total is standard for the industry.
This job was already scheduled before Monday's hail storm. Many neighbors with hail damage are waiting for insurance checks before they start work on their roofs.
One roof damaged was practically new. It was replaced about two months ago. And now it has to be replaced again. The adjuster says it's going to be about $6,000 worth of damage.
But with storms in the forecast, would the roofers get a chance to the job done?
"It may be a few days before we get back here, but we'll do everything we can today and seal up everything," Dalton says.
And it looks like they finished the shingles and that was the goal.
Dalton did mention damage at Billard Airport. He says one of the hangars was hit by hail.
