Identity theft is hitting some people in Emporia, but the charges are coming from Chicago.
Emporia police say they've received a number of calls. The cards themselves were not stolen, just the information on the card.
The information is stolen locally and then used somewhere else.
Police are asking you to contact them if you have any information or have been a victim of identity theft.
The number is 785-353-4200.
