Topeka man found guilty in May motel killing

Sterling R. Hall, III, 27, of Topeka

Sterling R. Hall, III, 27, of Topeka

On September 24, a jury returned a verdict of guilty of Murder in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Firearm against Sterling Hall, 27, whose last known address is 1801 SW 33rd Street, Topeka.

Hall was charged with one count of Murder in the First Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Firearm for the May 15, 2008 killing of Pamela K. McMaster, as she sat with friends outside her room at the Regency Inn on South Topeka Boulevard.

Hall came through a breezeway area by the motel's front office and approached the victim and her friends. He did not speak to them, nor they to him, prior to the shooting. Neither McMaster nor her friends knew Hall and there had been no disturbances prior to the suspect walking up and shooting McMaster in the back four times. The evidence established this a simply a senseless murder with no motive or purpose, other than just to kill someone.

Hall faces life in prison with a chance for parole after 25 years, and eight months on the firearm possession felony.

Hall is scheduled for sentencing on December 4.
