Fire has destroyed 15 boats at a Wilson Lake marina in Russell County.
Emergency management director Keith Harberer said the fire started around noon Wednesday and was under control by late afternoon.
No one was on any of the boats or the dock when the fire broke out. No injuries were reported.
Harberer said the blaze destroyed 11 houseboats, two sailboats, a pontoon boat and one speedboat. He estimated the damage at around $1 million, but insurance adjusters will calculate final figures.
High wind spread the flames quickly among the boats, which were tied up close together. The state fire marshal will investigate to determine a probable cause.
