The Topeka RoadRunners are off to a hot start this season.

Currently, the Runners are sitting at 3 and 0 and are looking to reel in a W with tonight's home opener.

The Bucket Man is always out in full force at the ExpoCentre as the Runners host the Springfield Jr. Blues.

Picking it up in the second period, the Blues were on the attack. Brian Prost gets the pass and shoots and is a little disappointed because big Lyle Rocker came up with the great glove save.

Later in the period, Randy Swank shoots and, on the rebound, Alec Hagaman puts in the back of the net. Sound the horn, we are all tied at two.

And this one would be tight the whole way through, with the RoadRunners hanging on to win, 4-3.

Correction: The RoadRunners hosted the Springfileld Jr. Blues. An earlier version of this story stated the wrong team.

This story is just wrong. The Roadrunners were 4 and 0 going into this game and they were playing the Springfield (IL) Jr. Blues and not St. Louis. Randy Swank and Alec Hagaman play for Topeka and the video showed a goal by Springfield. Also the video of the gentleman beating the bucket was not The Bucketman.

As a Road Runner fan, I appreciate the coverage but please get the facts correct.

As a Topeka RoadRunner Hockey fan, I would like to thank 49 News for their support and coverage of the team...

This story and video had a few miscues but none the less exposure for hockey in Topeka...

Thanks again for the coverage but maybe in the future a little more research before airing your stories about the team...

Absolutely inexcusable! For a SECOND CONSECUTIVE NIGHT Mr. DeCantis has failed to do any research. The RoadRunners played SPRINGFIELD Jr. Blues, NOT St. Louis! Even if he stole the story/score from WIBW or KSNT, they both had the CORRECT information. No credibility...No viewers!

I guess this comment section of your site is never read...

Again after tonight's game your comments were way off line...

As mentioned before this is just inexcusable for any local news sports media...

Remember, there is more local weekend sports stories in Topeka that just High School football!
