The race for district two position two is over.
"I'm just so glad to get this resolved. We need to get on with the business that we're actually trying to make happen and stop worrying about the election process," Hal Gardner said.
The race was in the media last week when board president Peg McCarthy and vice president Patrick Woods supported challenger Hal Gardner over incumbent Betty Horton. According to McCarthy and Woods, Horton had been hard to work with for two years. Horton had also made racial comments toward Woods.
Horton says she's glad to put it all behind her.
"I woke up this morning and felt incredibly blessed. The conclusion can be that I won and I will be happy. The conclusion may be that I lost and I will be happy," Horton said.
The final vote count wasn't close. Gardner got 11,399 to Horton's 3,795.
Gardner says he looks forward to working with the board and superintendent Kevin Singer.
In the race for district one position one, Doug Glenn beat John R. Williams 8,695 to 4,784.
