The City Council approves improvements
The Topeka Zoo, seniors and the disabled have reason to be pleased.
The Lion's Pride exhibit at the Topeka Zoo will be getting a new roof.
The exhibit was built in 1989 and it's leaking, causing structural damage.
The City Council decided tonight to give the Zoo $50,000 to complete several repair projects around the zoo.
They include roofs, flooring, guttering, and repairing sidewalks at the zoo.
The City Council also approved a resolution to support the building of low income housing.
The 16 proposed units would be near 11th and Lincoln in the Tennessee Town neighborhood.
The units would be rented out to seniors and people with disabilities.
The proposal will now move on to the Kansas Human Rights Commission.
