Topeka Police to assist Fort Riley Mounted Color Guard

On Thursday, January 8, the Topeka Police Department will be assisting soldiers from Fort Riley who are preparing for President Elect Barack Obama's Presidential Inauguration that takes place on January 20, 2009.

The 1st Infantry Division Commanding General's Mounted Color Guard will be in Topeka on Thursday practicing for the inauguration event from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 pm.

The practice will take place around the Capitol building.

There will be a total of 14 soldiers in Topeka practicing for this historic event.

The Topeka Police Department will be providing officers to escort the Mounted Color Guard as they are practicing around the Capitol grounds.
