Update from the Associated Press
The Kansas State Fire Marshal's office is not saying what led investigators to conclude that arson caused a fire in an Osage County home that killed four people. Firefighters found the bodies of one adult and three children inside the home in the small town of Scranton yesterday. The fire marshal's chief investigator Rose Rozmiarek today declined to say why the agency believes the fire was deliberately set because, "It's still early in the investigation." Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn said there's been no formal indentification of the victims. She said no arrests have been made and nobody is in custody this morning. Dunn said "It's an open case" and asked anyone with information to call the sheriff's office (1-877-OSCRIME). The Shawnee County cornoner's office said it was performing the autopsies on the victims but didn't expect to have any results until this evening at the earliest.
Neighbors in the town of about 725 people said the well-kept ranch-style house was occupied by a husband and wife and their three children.
