In Governor Sebelius' proposed budget cuts, one company is under the knife.
She has proposed to eliminate the Kansas Technology Enterprise Corporation in the state's budget.
Tracy Taylor, the CEO of KTEC, says that they have done a lot of good for Kansas.
"Last year, KTEC brought over $100 million, federal dollars, to the state of Kansas," Taylor said. "We helped create $46 million of private investment capital, and created approximately 1,000 high-paying, technology-oriented jobs in the state."
In addition to the $100,000 in federal funds in 2008, Taylor says they have also created 933 technology jobs in 2008 and nearly 17,000 jobs since 1987.
Taylor thinks that when there are economic troubles, we shouldn't shy away from technology.

"You know, you're going to have economic cycles and when you do, you need to innovate and you need to grow your way out of those," Taylor said. "And you need to grow in those areas such as technology, where jobs are higher paying and your predicating it on research that's been done that will create businesses and products that will do well in the future."
Taylor also said that they would be working with legislators to try and keep KTEC from being cut.
