Tax season is right around the corner, and free help is available to you.
Here are a few ways you can save money this tax season.
Online: Free tax information is always available on the IRS web site at www.irs.gov
Telephone: You can also call the IRS Tax Help Line at (800) 829-1040.
Community Resources: There is also free tax preparation available through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, and Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs in many communities. To find one near you, call (800) 829-1040.
Taxpayer Assistance Centers: But if you're having trouble, and your issue can't be handled online or by phone, you can get face to face assistance at your local Taxpayer Assistance Center. Just stop by www.irs.gov to find local centers near you. Don't be confused by internet sites that end in .com, .net, .org or other designations.
