New numbers from Topeka police show they're making progress in fighting the most common crime in the city: theft.
There were 2,102 reports of theft from the beginning of this year through last Friday.
Compare that with 2,249 for the same time period, last year.
Reports of auto theft, rape and murder are also down.
Robberies of individuals, aggravated assaults, and burglaries to businesses went up.
