Manhattan Airport hopes to compete against bigger airports with new website

Manhattan Regional Airport is hoping that the launch of their new website, www.flymhk.com, will launch the airport as a major competitor against the bigger airports in Kansas City and Wichita.

The site features a new, user-friendly design and travel information that includes everything from low cost airfares to arrival-departure times. A new feature that the site offers as a comparison calculator that allows users to see how the cost of a flight from Manhattan compares to flying out of Kansas City International.

"When compared to Kansas City, many of the MHK fares are nearly equal, and often less expensive," said airport director Peter VanKuren.

However, Kansas City International Airport (KCI) says that an analysis of its top 20 destinations shows them to be cheaper. Joe McBride, public information officer, says that KCI is 70% cheaper than MHK.

Also new to the Manhattan airport is a an American Eagle jet service that will begin August 25 with two daily direct flights from Manhattan to Dallas/Ft. Worth.
