International physics conference hosted at Kansas State

An adult science camp of sorts has found a home in Manhattan for the weekend.

Kansas State University is hosting a conference where some of the world's brightest physicists have gathered to share their ideas and insights on attosecond science.

The International Conference on Attosecond Physics is a biennial conference that focuses on the discussion of "the generation, characterization, and applications of the ultra-short light pulses to atoms, molecules, plasmas, and solids."

Three Kansas State faculty members were selected as speakers. Anh-Thu Le is speaking on ultrafast dynamics & imaging, Lew Cocke is speaking on attosecond physics and H. Mashiko is presenting on attosecond generation.

The conference runs from July 28 to Aug. 1.

The 2007 conference was held in Dresden. It is biennial program that is in its second term.
