Back-to-School Fair registration opens

It's time to think about back-to-school already.

Community Action Inc. is already thinking about it. They've started registering children in need for their back-to-school fair. The fair will be held Saturday August 1st at the Expocentre. The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon.

The fair provides free backpacks and basic school supplies for K-12 students. To be eligible, families must be at or below 200% of federal income guidelines. Proof of income and social security numbers for all household members are required.

You can register Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Topeka SRS office at 500 SW Van Buren from June 15 to July 17. Applications will also be accepted at Community Action's Swygart Center starting July 6, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
