A man who has tested positive for tuberculosis is in isolation in the Shawnee County jail.
John Lee Wilks is charged with failing to "follow precautions for infectious and contagious diseases."
He is being held in contact isolation, meaning he is not in contact with other prisoners.
His cell has a "negative air flow" ventilation system.
This keeps the disease from spreading to other inmates.
The Shawnee County district attorney says despite his backlog of cases, when a situation like this arises he has to move it to the top of his list to get the person off the street and in custody.
Wilks has a trial set for July 7th.
