One person dead after drunk driving accident on I-70

Topeka police say one person is dead and another is arrested after a crash on I-70 Sunday night.

One person is dead, and another arrested, after a drunk driving accident on I-70 near MacVicar.

Authorities responded to the call shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday. Captain Darin Scott with the Topeka Police Department says they got several calls from drivers on I-70, who thought the cars were on fire, but they were just smoking from a head-on collision.

Scott says several people helped get the female driver of a Geo Prizm out of her car to start CPR, but she died on the scene.

The driver of the red Geo Prizm has been identified as Cara S. Jackson, 27 of Topeka.

Scott says a Lincoln Navigator somehow got turned around on I-70 and ended up going the wrong way on the interstate. The Navigator hit a red Geo Prizm causing severe damage to the car and killing the driver.
