Topeka The Kansas State Board of Education has
refused to grant a teaching license to a former Topeka mayor who
served time in prison.
The board voted 6-4 against granting the license to Doug Wright.
The former lawyer served about 10 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges that he stole thousands of dollars from his aunt and the Topeka Lawyers Club. He had the 2003 convictions expunged from his record earlier this year.
Wright got an education degree at Washburn and did his student teaching at Highland Park High School.
