Local Weight Watchers donates food

Topeka residents are shedding pounds and giving back at the same time.

Today all that donated food was loaded up onto a truck from Weight Watchers and delivered to Doorstep.

That food will help feed families in need in Topeka.

Altogether, the Weight Watchers Members were able to donate more than 1,000 pounds of food to Doorstep.

"I think it makes Weight Watchers members feel spectacular," says coordinator Janna Aguirre. "We're big tenants of changing our own lives, but realizing that as we are losing weight we are changing lives of those around us as well. This is just a prime example of just the kind of good that we can do just by being healthy."

The Topeka Weight Watchers aren't the only ones helping out.

Across the nation, Weight Watchers programs are helping gather food for their local food banks as well.
