Injured Ft. Hood soldier with Kansas ties out of hospital
Army administrative specialist Keara Bono-Torkelson are reporting she is now out of the hospital and with her family.
Bono-Torkelson was stationed here at the United States Army Reserve Center in Topeka.
She was sent to Ft. Hood just two days ago.
She worked with the 467th Adjutant General Corps as an administrative specialist.
Her job was to take care of medical records and appointments, among other things.
Her new husband, Joe Michael Torkelson, is by her side Friday night after an intense phone conversation Thursday afternoon.
"I called her husband in Minnesota and he said that he had talked to her but heard chaos and then the phone went dead, so I guess he was talking to her during the time of the shooting," says Bono-Torkelson's mom, Peggy McCarthy.
She and her husband were married in Las Vegas just one month ago.
We have just learned that she is back in military formation as of today.
