Once again, in a tradition started last year around Veterans Day, ACT's (Auburn Community Theater) talented performers will be presenting a musical entertainment to stir the patriotic spirit of their audiences. Join Jack Benny, Marilyn Monroe, Abbott and Costello, the Andrews Sisters and a host of others as they once again present a patriotic uplifting show based on the USO shows of the past. "For the Troops 2009" will be presented November 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Auburn Community Center, 121 SW 11th St, Auburn KS. Tickets are on sale for $10, all seats reserved. Chili Feed
The petition drive against the smoking ban ordinance is hosting a free chili feed on Saturday, November 14th to be held at the FOE (Eagles) at 2749 SE Fremont from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The food is free, but they do welcome donations.

The Topeka High School Marine Corps Junior ROTC Cadets will hold their annual Marine Corps Birthday Ball this weekend at the Capitol Plaza Hotel. This event features many military traditions conducted by the cadets. Several hundred people will be in attendance at the birthday celebration. The guest speaker is Kansas Senator Pat Roberts. Senator Roberts served in the Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962.
Washburn Rural High School Drama & Musical Departments presents its' Fall musical, 2009: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at 7:00 p.m. at the WRHS Auditorium. All seats $8.00. Tickets may be purchased at the door, in advance at the WRHS Bank or by calling the WRHS Box Office, 339-4945.

Extreme Cowboy Race World Finals comes to Expo Center 11/12 - 11/15

Competitors have been riding all year throughout the country accumulating points to see who will be world champion. Now the world finals will determine who the 2009 champion will be. Contestants will come from as far away as California, Arizona and Washington State and compete in four classes ranging from Pro to kids (Young Guns).
Extreme Cowboy racing is a timed obstacle course in which horse/rider teams negotiate all manner of roping, jumping, shooting, roll backs, spins, back ups, teeter totters, water crossing and just about anything an event host can think up all while emphasizing horsemanship.
Craig Cameron of RFD TV will be hosting/announcing the EXCA world finals at the Expo Center this week. We'll have to wait to see what he has in store. Craig is a life long horseman from Bluffdale Texas training horses and riders alike.
