Social Securtiy administrators join KTKA for live webchat
Changes are coming to Social Security next year and local administrators are trying to get the word out.
Today, representatives of the Topeka branch of the social security administration stopped by the 49 newsroom for a web chat.
Kristine Warren and Emily Schalansky answered questions on benefits, taxes, and cost of living estimates.
It's information you can find online, but a lot of social security recipients don't log on.
"We certainly have a lot of people who are not comfortable going on the internet and I just want to reassure people that they can go online and get that personal service. We have taken a lot of strides to improve our website and make it user friendly and make it safe and secure," says Social Security Administrator Kristine Warren.
You can read the transcript of the chat here.
You can also learn more about Social Security and benefits by visiting www.socialsecurity.gov.
