Just in time for the holiday, some northeast Kansas residents got a helping hand with their Thanksgiving dinners.
They gave out 5,000 pounds of fresh food, fruit and vegetables and dry goods to cars that lined up.
Organizers say they hoped to serve nearly 500 people today and the number is always growing.
"The demand has really exploded in the past few months. We started out just getting about 30 cars, and last time we had about 130. It's been a really big success, I think," says organizer Nicole Tichenor.
Community Action says more food distributions are coming they will be held the fourth Wednesday of every month in Rossville.
