It's already illegal in Kansas for anyone under 18 to drive or ride a motorcycle without wearing a helmet. But currently, it's the child who gets a ticket.

Under the new bill, any adult who lets a child onto a cycle without a helmet would also get ticketed.

The Governors Highway Safety Association says 43 of the 64 riders killed in motorcycle crashes in 2006 in Kansas weren't wearing helmets.
