Silver Lake students help turn school green with new program

Silver Lake students are trying to save the planet one paper at a time.

A group of 7th grade students with the help of their English teacher, Carol Balckburn, started the recycling program.

They've placed crates next to trash cans all around the school.

The students come by on Wednesdays to empty them, then Shawnee County Waste Management takes it to the Topeka recycling plant.
