The highest court in the land will look at a Topeka group for picketing military funerals and the Kansas' Attorney General wants in on the action.
A.G. Steve Six told 49 News tonight that his office will look into how Kansas can get involved in the case in an effort to protect the state's interests.
This comes after Monday's announcement that the U.S. Supreme Court will take a look at the Maryland case involving the Westboro Baptist Church's military funeral picketing.
"My office worked very hard on the constitutionality of the funeral picketing law here in Kansas. Protecting our men and women who served overseas from intrusions like this at their funeral. It's a terrific law in Kansas; we defend it, we support it and we'll prosecute people who violate it. We're looking right now on how we can weigh in at the United States Supreme Court to make sure Kansas' law is not impacted," says Six.
The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments on the Maryland case in October.
