The top Democrat in the Kansas House has lodged a new allegation of impropriety against Republican Speaker Mike O'Neal, drawing a swift denial.
O'Neal is a lawyer from Hutchinson. A special House committee is investigating a complaint by Democrats over O'Neal's legal work for businesses in a lawsuit against the state.
On Thursday, House Minority Leader Paul Davis, of Lawrence, told the panel he had heard that O'Neal had blocked legislative review of one of his legal clients.
An angry O'Neal called the allegation untrue. O'Neal said he's never represented the company in question, CVS Caremark Corp.
