Area women joined in the fight against hunger by participating in a new initiative.

It was all a part of the first annual "High Heels Deliver Meals" event.
Women in the community, including 49 News Anchor Marshanna Hester, were partnered with a seasoned Meals on Wheels volunteer to deliver meals to homebound people in the Topeka area.
Volunteers deliver meals on 66 routes in Shawnee and Jefferson County every day.
"High Heels Deliver Meals" is a new initiative to help raise awareness as part of National "March for Meals."
