Michelle Montgomery, program specialist with the Kansas Department of Corrections, leads the discussion on the importance of mentoring in reducing crime and especially in reducing habitual offenses. The Topeka Community Roundtable is held to connect service organizations that deal with some riskier community members, those who are returning to the community after incarceration. It takes everyone to help reduce the risk of offenders re-offending. Montgomery discusses some of the data studies have dug up and introduces you to a Re-entry Program alumni and her mentor, both of whom speak.
