Is there a doggie equivalent of Ritalen? My puppy Daisy, gets freaked out when she hears people walking outside of the apartment. I've tried distracting her with treats, and I've tried playing fetch, but it sounds like she really wants to take a bite out of the noisy people on the other side of the door. So, is there some type of medication that would calm her down a little bit? -- Kris, Topeka

Kris, There are different medications for anxiety. This sounds more behavioral. You may need to get Daisy to understand these are good people/sounds. Maybe you could get them -- if you know these people -- to stop, only when you are there, and give her a treat, reward her for good behavior. If you are not there, it would re-enforce her behavior that she is "scareing" the people away. She feels she is protecting you, and when they continue on their walking, she has effectively done her job. Thank you, Dr. Trupp
